Teamspeak Server Address Change

I have discontinued the Teamspeak server that was hosted at Online Stomping Grounds and have setup a new one I am hosting myself.

The new server address is at teamspeak.subsolar.com:9999 with the same anonymous access password as the old one. Because the server uses a newer audio compression format than the OSG one you may need to upgrade your client to connect to it. You can download the new client at http://www.teamspeak.org/.

Happy Fragging!!

Merry Christmas, Seasons Greetings, Whatever!!

Merry Newtonsday / Christmas / Midwinter / Winter Solstice / Yule to all UT2003 players and their families.

Oh, and for those who are really computer geeks and sometimes forget what radix to work in, Happy Halloween too (DEC 25 = OCT 31, of course :-))

Changing the look of the website slightly

I've just finished my initial update of the website and switching from the mixed html table & cascading style sheet layout to one that is based on just cascading style sheets.

There still is some cruft on a couple of the pages like the server list. Since I'm planning on updating the code so that there are less bits to cause issues, I'll be working on that next.

I'm planning on doing some more updates during the Christmas break, so if you have any issues with the new format not working for you or any other suggestions, just drop me a line.

Hap's Server is Very popular

Check out here:

It appears to be a list of popular servers. Hap's server made it! Oh, to have a commercial connection too ;-)

DOOM is 10 years old

Well for all you that started playing the game that started the multi-player first person shooter DOOM is 10 years old!

Ten years ago last week, id Software released version 1.0 of DOOM Episode 1: Knee Deep in the Dead. I remember playing this with a null-modem cable at work with a buddy since at that time did not have a network at work but we wanted to try it out. The graphics (just bloops from the PC speaker for sound) were just amazing on a 386SX-16 and standard VGA card ... talk about realisic!

OK so the graphics may be sucky by todays standards, but I say HURAH for the game that I started fraggin on!
